I found this visit very frustrating. I made this appointment at least 3 weeks ahead of time, and left a detailed note about my experience with Tmj and that I am specifically looking for options covered by insurance. I got a call the day before the appointment saying that this is not a tmj specialist but they treat patients with tmj. This did not sound encouraging but I went to the appointment anyways because I’d already taken the morning off of work, and I’d rather not be charged the $100 no show fee. The morning of the appt I got an email saying I needed to provide bitewing X-rays or new ones would be taken. First time id received that info, so I did not have the bitewings and “could not be seen” without them even though my mouth and teeth were never examined during the appointment. The dentist, Dr Maur, was “ nice” and gave a good explanation of what tmj is mechanically. I discussed the issues I’ve had previously, specifically cost of treatment and that I was looking for more options that would be covered. The dentist tells me how I need an orthotic device and would give some Botox as well. The orthotic sounded terrible but I’m in a lot of pain so I was willing to try. I agreed to the treatment, assuming that this would be run through my insurance since I kept talking about it… Then one of the admin brings me a treatment plan totaling $2300. I asked about insurance and she told me that it’s not covered. It felt extremely fake and slimy that she’d just smile and blink at me and then bring me this bill. It seemed like she didn’t want to tell me herself so she made the admin do it. I ended up getting a referral to a specialist… which I could have gone to on my own. I strongly feel that this practice just wanted to bill me for an appointment and bitewings, and should have been upfront that they will not use insurance for tmj treatment when that was the sole reason for making this appointment. Super disappointing, but I guess that’s what you can expect from the American healthcare system - salesmen rather than medical providers!! Also want to make it clear that the front desk admin were very nice and helpful, the hygienist was very nice, this complaint is specifically with Dr. Maur. I was looking for a new general dentist as well but the fake behavior reeeeally rubbed me the wrong way so I will not be back!

I had a great experience at this practice. Dr. Bae was fantastic as was Kat, the dental tech. The staff was also really superb. I was treated very well by everyone who went the extra mile to make the experience as pleasant as possible. Great team!!!

I've very happy I switched to this dental office, and they accept CareFirst insurance. Stellar technology and equipment, and excellent dental hygienists. I always feel relaxed when I come here for a cleaning. They have a gentle touch and are very thorough! They also did a great job with my filling. Very friendly staff and appointments are convenient and efficient. Highly recommend!

I cracked a molar yesterday so I had to make an unscheduled trip to K Street Dentistry today to get it repaired. The staff was very professional and super friendly. Special shout out to Robin, who was very accommodating and awesome through the process. I am a fairly new patient at K Street but I have received outstanding service during each of my recent three visits. I highly recommend them and encourage you to try them if you have any dental needs! In addition to resolving this problem, my TMJ issues have also been completely solved, making me a very, very satisfied customer!!!
