Deceptive billing practices. I was never informed I was an out-of-network patient until after receiving a $172 bill. The moment I provided my insurance information (I am not on Cigna, apparently their only in-network provider), I should have been told upfront so I could make an informed decision about my care. When I raised this with the clinic, they placed the responsibility entirely on the patient. That is simply not standard practice. Having received dental cleanings for over a decade and having worked in a dental clinic myself, patients were always notified prior to their appointment if they were out of network. A quick look at other reviews shows this is not an isolated incident. I will be filing a report with the Dental Board of California. Save yourself the surprise bill and go somewhere that respects your right to informed consent.
