Unfortunately, Silver Spring Dental Arts No Longer Prioritizes Patient Care Silver Spring Dental Arts was once my preferred dental practice, but my experience after Covid made it clear that patient needs were no longer a priority. Over the course of a year, my routine cleaning appointments were repeatedly rescheduled by Dr. Thomson’s office. I later realized this was likely due to the loss of their dental hygienist and a shift toward prioritizing more clinically urgent services. While staffing challenges are understandable, the continued delays—with no clear timeline—were not. When I finally called to ask when I might realistically be seen, I was met with unexpected hostility from the front desk receptionist, Melissa. After expressing my frustration, I asked whether I should consider finding another dentist. Her response: “That’s your decision—you might need to.” I was shocked by the dismissive tone and lack of empathy. I ultimately did switch to a new dentist whose office staff treat patients with respect, care, and professionalism. Sadly, Silver Spring Dental Arts no longer reflects the patient-centered environment it once had.

I love it here! I mean, really. They are lovely people and great professionals. Dr. Mellanie is thoughtful and considerate in her treatment plans and care. Her entire staff reflect the same. The Dental Hygienists (I will learn all of their names) are spectacular. Melinda is delightful and it is such a joy to see her when I come in. I am so grateful to have found 'my Dentist'...that is no easy feat, let me tell you!

After bouncing from bad dentist to bad dentist for years, I've been coming to Dr. Thompson for 5 or 6 years now, and I couldn't recommend her enough. Melinda at the front desk is wonderful as well.

I have been going to Dr Thompson for a few years now. I couldn’t be happier with their service. From the front desk to the hygienist, they are all wonderful. You don’t have to wait, when you come in they get you in your chair right away. Dr Thompson is wonderful! I love all her staff.

I've been seeing Dr. Thompson for over ten years now. I've lived in Virginia for five of those years, so her office is an hour's drive away, but I refuse to switch to a closer dentist because she and her staff are so warm and welcoming and all of them know what they're doing. I have a service dog, and the entire staff make sure both of us feel welcomed and taken care of. My teeth are as clean and healthy as anyone could wish thanks to these folks, and I plan on staying put as long as she's in practice. Thanks for everything you and your team do, Dr. T. Don't ever change.
