Privacy Policy

1Scope

This policy covers the Site and our related email and sales communications. It does not cover the practices of any dental practice listed on the Site, or any third-party website we link to.

We do not collect patient health information. The Site is a business directory. We do not ask for, want, or knowingly collect information about anyone's dental or medical condition, treatment, or history. Do not send us protected health information.

2Information We Collect

Information you give us

• Contact form and email inquiries: name, email address, phone number, practice name, and whatever you include in your message
• Listing claims and corrections: practice details, provider names, verification information
• Purchases: billing contact details, and payment information handled by our payment processor
• Email subscriptions

Business information we collect from public sources

We compile practice information from publicly available sources, including Google Business Profile data, practice websites, and state dental board licensing records. This includes practice names, addresses, phone numbers, websites, provider names, hours, services, review counts, and ratings. This is business information, not consumer personal information, though in some cases a practice name or contact detail may also identify an individual.

Information collected automatically

• IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, and timestamps
• Cookies and similar technologies used for site functionality, analytics, and advertising measurement

3How We Use Information

• Operate, maintain, and improve the Site and its listings
• Compile and publish directory listings, designations, and scores
• Respond to inquiries, corrections, removal requests, and support requests
• Process purchases and provide Featured Listing benefits
• Send transactional messages about your account or purchase
• Send marketing and sales communications to dental practices, subject to Section 6
• Measure advertising and marketing performance
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms

4Legal Basis and Publication of Business Data

We publish business directory information in reliance on the public availability of that information and our legitimate interest in operating an informational directory. Practice listings are published without charge and without a contract. If you are a listed practice and want your information corrected or removed, see Section 8.

5How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information in the ordinary sense of exchanging it for money. Depending on the definitions in your state's law, our use of advertising and analytics cookies may be treated as "sharing" or as a "sale" for cross-context behavioral advertising. See Section 9 for how to opt out.

We share information with:

• Service providers who host the Site, process payments, send email, provide analytics, and provide customer support, under contracts limiting their use to providing those services
• Press release distribution partners, including FeaturedDentist.com, for customers who purchase that benefit
• Reviews.ai, for customers whose Featured Listing includes a Reviews.ai subscription
• Legal recipients where required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect our rights, safety, or property
• A successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets

6Email Communications

We send marketing and sales email to dental practices using business contact information. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and we honor opt-outs promptly. You may also email [email protected] to opt out.

Transactional messages about an active purchase, a listing claim, or a support request are not marketing and may be sent even if you have opted out of marketing.

7Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies for:

• Strictly necessary functions, such as security and load balancing
• Analytics, to understand how the Site is used
• Advertising, to measure campaign performance and reach relevant audiences

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect Site functionality. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as an opt-out of sale or sharing where required by law.

8Practice Corrections and Removal

If you are a listed practice:

• Corrections: email [email protected] with the practice name, city, the item that is wrong, and the correct information
• Removal: email [email protected] from an address associated with the practice, identify the listing, and confirm you are authorized to make the request

We process verified requests within a reasonable time and may keep a record of the request itself.

9Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Know what personal information we have collected, used, and disclosed
• Access a copy of that information
• Correct inaccurate personal information
• Delete personal information
• Opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising
• Opt out of profiling with legal or similarly significant effects
• Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights

To make a request, email [email protected] with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We will verify your identity before acting, usually by confirming control of the email address or practice associated with the information. An authorized agent may submit a request with written permission and proof of authority.

We respond within the time required by applicable law, generally 45 days, with an extension where permitted. If we deny a request, we will explain why and how to appeal. To appeal, reply to our decision with the subject line “Privacy Appeal.”

California. California residents may exercise the rights above under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. We do not use sensitive personal information for purposes requiring a limitation notice.

Nevada. Nevada residents may submit a verified request to opt out of the sale of covered information.

10Data Retention

We keep information as long as needed for the purposes described here, then delete or anonymize it. Purchase and billing records are kept as long as required for tax, accounting, and legal purposes. Directory listing data is kept while the listing is published and in archival form afterward.

11Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the information we handle. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12Children

The Site is intended for business and adult use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email [email protected] and we will delete it.

13Location of Processing

We operate in the United States, and information is processed and stored there. If you access the Site from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and handled in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.

14Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes take effect when posted with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use after that date means you accept the update.
